We are looking for enthusiastic Casual Catering Assistants to join our team at Nelson Hospital. These are casual position s with no guaranteed hours, offering flexible shifts to suit your availability. This is a great opportunity to earn extra income while working in a rewarding healthcare environment. You will support the delivery of high-quality food services to patients and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen. Casual work provides variety, flexibility, and the chance to be part of a supportive team making a positive difference to patient care.

Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities

  • Assist with basic food preparation and meal assembly
  • Prepare sandwiches, light meals and baked items
  • Serve meals in a professional and friendly manner
  • Respond promptly to patient and customer requests
  • Maintain food safety, hygiene and quality standards
  • Complete general kitchen cleaning and support duties

  • Previous experience in catering, hospitality or food service environments
  • Strong food safety awareness and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • A positive, reliable and team-focused attitude
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Physically able to undertake kitchen and cleaning duties
