  • The Company An exciting opportunity has become available with a well-established New Zealand manufacturing business that forms part of a large international group. With continued growth and a number of finance transformation initiatives underway, they are looking for a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional to join the team on a 6-month contract. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, fixing things, improving processes and working with technology, rather than simply maintaining the status quo. The Role In this hands-on contract, you'll have genuine scope to improve and modernise the finance function, with key responsibilities including: Strengthening financial controls through balance sheet reconciliations, resolving historical items and improving visibility of outstanding risks.
  • Reviewing and improving AP, AR, purchasing and approval processes, with a focus on efficiency, control and automation.
  • Identifying finance activities that could be transitioned to a regional shared services team, and supporting the documentation, training and implementation required.
  • Driving improvements across finance systems and automation, reducing manual processing and leveraging available technology.
  • Improving fixed asset and inventory management, including reconciliations, reporting and cycle count processes.
  • Leading and supporting finance transformation projects, developing practical recommendations, implementing improvements and leaving behind clear processes and documentation for the wider team
  • Your Profile We're looking for an experienced accountant who enjoys improving the way finance operates, rather than simply managing the day-to-day. You'll ideally have: 5+ years' experience across financial accounting, finance operations, projects or process improvement, ideally within a medium to large business.
  • Strong technical accounting fundamentals, with experience across reconciliations, AP/AR, inventory and financial controls.
  • A proven track record of reviewing and improving finance processes, including taking ideas from concept through to implementation.
  • Strong systems and technology capability, including advanced Excel and experience working with ERP/reporting systems. Exposure to automation, Power BI or Copilot would be advantageous.
  • Experience creating SOPs, process maps and documentation, with the ability to bring structure and clarity to existing processes.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach - someone who is confident challenging the status quo, influencing stakeholders and turning identified issues into practical improvements.
