The Opportunity


The Connect Hamilton is a collaborative working agreement between Hamilton City Council and Downer, responsible for the planning and delivery of most transportation-related physical works activities in Hamilton (maintenance and renewal). Connect Hamilton has a high-performance approach, thrives on continual improvement and has a real willingness to try new things and challenge status quo.


We have an exciting opportunity for an Information Technician to support the management of asset information across our transport and infrastructure network. You'll work with asset data, GIS systems, and reporting tools to ensure information is accurate, up to date, and supports operational decision-making.


Nga Pūkenga Matua | Important Skills


Data & Reporting


  • Experience managing asset registers and databases
  • Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Lookups
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools
  • Data entry, validation, and data quality management
  • SQL knowledge an advantage


Asset & GIS Knowledge


  • Experience with RAMM / Asset & Work Manager (AWM)
  • Understanding of infrastructure assets and asset lifecycle management
  • Experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or MapInfo
  • GPS and field data collection experience
  • Ability to create and interpret maps and reports


Transport & Infrastructure


  • Understanding of road construction and maintenance activities
  • Knowledge of pavement, traffic, and asset condition data
  • Awareness of safety and risk management principles
