Senior Finance Manager- Family Office


We’re looking for a finance person who is obsessed with the numbers and the story that they tell and driven by how this data leads to business optimisation.


Something looks too good? You’ll want to know why.


The model says the deal works? You’ll run it again for proof.


Revenue is growing but cash is disappearing? You’ll keep digging until you know where it went.


You’ll work alongside an Entrepreneur and her family office, getting deeply involved into a diverse portfolio of businesses, investments and new opportunities.


And this is definitely not a sit-back-and-report-the-numbers kind of role.


You’ll be right in the middle of the action, building models, pulling apart potential acquisitions and understanding what’s driving portfolio performance.


You bring rigour, technical accuracy, curiosity and commercial judgement and can turn all of that into a clear point of view on what we should do next.


We want someone with brilliant finance foundations, a seriously commercial brain, enough curiosity to never just accept the first answer and a high EQ to be able to build and maintain all level of relationships.

What you'll bring

  • Ideally, you've started your career in Big 4 or another strong accounting/advisory environment, built excellent technical foundations. Spent time in PE or VC and potentially have then moved closer to day to day business operations.
  • We'd love to see:
    • Around 5-8 years' finance experience, with clear progression and increasing responsibility.
    • Big 4 training or similarly strong technical foundations.
    • Hands-on commercial finance, FP&A or Finance Business Partnering experience.
    • Experience in PE or VC would be a big advantage or exposure to M&A, due diligence, valuation, corporate finance or investment analysis.
    • Experience in a Family Office or startup, scale-up, tech or another fast-moving/high-growth business would be a big advantage.
    • Excellent financial modelling capability- driver-based models, forecasting, scenarios and sensitivity analysis.
    • Strong management accounting fundamentals across P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition, accruals and provisions.
    • Strong commercial understanding of cash flow and working capital.
    • The ability to interrogate numbers rather than accepting what's put in front of you.
    • Confidence in communicating with founders, senior leaders and people who aren't accountants.
    • A track record that shows progression, ownership and the ability to stick around long enough to make an impact.
    • The ambition to grow well beyond simply running a finance process.
    • Curiosity and a desire to know ‘why’


What You will Own


Portfolio Accountability

  • Own the Family Office portfolio results, reporting and growth across operating businesses, direct and angel investments, fund holdings and cash.
  • Shape the investment strategy, asset allocation and risk appetite with the family, then hold the portfolio to it.
  • Manage all fund holdings. Track performance against mandate and benchmark, manage commitments, capital calls and distributions, and hold managers to account.
  • Identify and assess new funds and managers. Build the pipeline, run manager due diligence and recommend where capital should go.
  • Oversee angel and direct investments, including performance, follow-on decisions, shareholder positions and exit timing.
  • Recommend when to hold, add, trim or exit, based on returns, concentration and liquidity needs.
  • Build strong relationships with fund managers, co-investors, founders and advisers that give the Family Office access to the best opportunities.
  • Own governance and compliance across entities, working with tax, legal and audit advisers.


M&A & Investment Analysis

  • Lead the financial analysis and due diligence of potential acquisitions and investments.
  • Get underneath quality of earnings, EBITDA adjustments, valuation, working capital, cash flow and key financial risks.
  • Challenge seller assumptions, build valuation scenarios and provide a clear view on whether the opportunity stacks up and at what price.
  • Run DD processes on potential acquisitions


Financial Performance & Reporting

  • Own management reporting, budgets, forecasts and performance analysis across the portfolio.
  • Get beyond reporting what happened and explain why it happened, what it means and what we should do next.
  • Define the right KPIs and commercial drivers for each business and flag risks, opportunities and underperformance early.


Financial Modelling

  • Build and own financial models for portfolio businesses, acquisitions, investments, funding and growth opportunities.
  • Develop clear, driver-based models with robust scenario and sensitivity analysis.
  • Pressure-test assumptions and identify where the model or the business case could break.


Cash, Liquidity & Working Capital

  • Own visibility of cash, liquidity and working capital across the portfolio.
  • Understand what cash is genuinely available and where capital is required.
  • Support decisions on how to fund growth and acquisitions and where capital is best deployed.
