About the Role :

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Engineer to join our Maintenance team at our Manukau site in Auckland. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our complex, high-speed aluminium beverage can manufacturing plant. This role combines hands-on mechanical maintenance with structured fault diagnosis, data analysis and root cause problem-solving to improve equipment reliability, reduce recurring failures and strengthen plant performance.

The Role Will Involve

Keeping our high-speed lines running safely and reliably, and finding the real cause behind every fault rather than just fixing the symptom. ⚙️

🔧 Breakdown Response & Fault Diagnosis

Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently, restoring equipment safely and correctly. Apply structured diagnostic methods such as fault isolation, 5 Whys and cause-and-effect analysis to identify underlying causes and put lasting corrective actions in place.

📈 Equipment Reliability & Preventative Maintenance

Complete scheduled maintenance, condition monitoring and inspections. Identify recurring failures, use maintenance history, production and SPC data to spot trends, and contribute to improvements in equipment availability, stability and performance.

🏭 Conversions, Installations & Improvements

Support machine conversions, installations, commissioning and equipment modifications, while building a sound understanding of complex plant equipment and how it affects product quality.

🦺 Health, Safety & Food Safety

Work safely in line with all requirements, including LOTO, permits, confined space and working at heights. Meet food safety and hygiene standards, and make sure equipment is clean, safe and verified before it returns to production.

📋 Maintenance Records & 5S

Accurately record work, equipment history, corrective actions and parts usage in our maintenance systems, and keep the workshop, tools and stores to 5S best practice.

🤝 Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with Production, Quality and Maintenance to solve problems, share knowledge, and contribute to technical training, troubleshooting guides and standard procedures.

Benefits and Perks

  • Be part of a company that's genuinely transforming an industry. ✨
  • Work with cutting-edge, high-speed manufacturing technology and innovative processes. 💡
  • A collaborative and supportive team environment where your contributions matter.
  • A clear, structured career pathway through our Maintenance Engineer Progression Framework, where progression is based on your skills and contribution, not length of service alone. 🌱
  • Contribute to sustainable manufacturing practices. 🌍
  • Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
  • A recognised Mechanical or Engineering Trade Certificate (essential). 🎓
  • Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills, with the ability to diagnose faults through to root cause.
  • Knowledge of structured diagnostic and troubleshooting processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and equipment data.
  • Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment with complex, interconnected production equipment is a strong advantage.
  • Formal root cause analysis training and experience with a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) are highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering, condition monitoring, SPC, Lean or aluminium can manufacturing is desirable.
  • Computer literacy and accurate technical documentation.
