About the Role


As an Automation Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in building scalable test automation solutions with a particular focus on Playwright, joining on an initial 6 mo. contract. You’ll design, implement, and optimise automation frameworks as a part of a significant digital modernisation programme focused on an excellent user experience. You’ll also collaborate closely with developers and BAs to embed quality across CI/CD pipelines.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Design, develop and maintain Playwright-based automation frameworks
  • Work with developers and testers to integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines
  • Support test strategy with reliable, reusable, and scalable test scripts
  • Troubleshoot and optimise test automation processes
  • Share knowledge and mentor others in modern test automation practices


Skills and Experience Required


  • 5+ years in test automation, with strong recent experience using Playwright
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining custom test frameworks
  • Proficiency in TypeScript
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD, Git-based workflows, and Agile delivery
  • Exposure to API testing, SQL, and modern cloud environments
  • Hands-on development experience advantageous
