BestStart Rototuna is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher in Training to join our energetic and supportive team. Our focus is providing quality education and care for tamariki.


Hidden at the end of a cul-de-sac on Saxon Woods Drive, our centre offers a welcoming learning environment with a HUGE outdoor space where tamariki can explore, learn, and connect with nature.


We value the learning that happens outdoors and encourage children to become guardians of nature while developing curiosity, confidence, and respect for the natural world.


About the Role:


If you have a passion for teaching young children and are currently enrolled in a Level 7 ECE programme, we want to hear from you!


You’ll have the opportunity to learn alongside experienced teachers, develop your teaching practice, and support tamariki through engaging, child-led learning experiences. Our expansive outdoor environment provides endless opportunities for exploration, discovery, and learning through nature.


This is a permanent position working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday .

Role requirements:


We are looking for someone who has:


  • Enrolment in a Level 7 ECE Bachelor or Graduate Diploma course
  • A passion for teaching and learning
  • An interest in child-led curriculum, planning, and extending children’s learning
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices
  • A willingness to learn, develop, and work collaboratively within a team
  • A strong commitment to providing quality care and education
