This is an exciting opportunity to join Real'sWhetū Marewa youth service as a Team Coach - Clinician, where you'llbalance hands-on clinical work with leadership, coaching, service development,and community connection.

The opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

  • This is more than a leadership role.
  • As Team Coach - Clinician, you'll lead fromalongside your team, maintaining a clinical caseload while providingleadership, coaching, and support to a small team of one clinician and twoyouth workers.
  • Because of the size of the team, you'llhave a genuine opportunity to influence the direction of the service, championinnovation, and make a highly visible difference in the lives of taiohi andwhānau throughout the Whanganui rohe.
  • You'll be empowered to strengthen clinicalpractice, foster a positive team culture, build meaningful partnerships, andhelp ensure the service continues to evolve to meet emerging community needs.
  • You'll also receive ongoing coaching andleadership support from the Service and Relationship Manager, creating afantastic opportunity for someone looking to grow their confidence andcapability as a leader.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing clinical assessment and support for taiohi experiencing mild to moderate mental health, addiction, and wellbeing challenges.
  • Leading a mobile, community-based service that delivers support where young people feel most comfortable.
  • Providing coaching, guidance, and clinical leadership to a team of clinicians and youth workers.
  • Supporting recruitment, professional development, performance coaching, and wellbeing of kaimahi.
  • Creating an environment where people feel empowered to learn, innovate, and do their best work.
  • Working alongside taiohi, whānau, and community partners to continuously improve and shape the service.
  • Ensuring high-quality service delivery and effective contract performance.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships across Health NZ, education, iwi, community organisations, and the wider social sector.
  • Identifying emerging needs and helping develop responsive solutions that improve outcomes for taiohi.


This is a permanent, full-time positionbased in Whanganui, working Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm. You will alsoparticipate in an on-call roster.


About you | Mōu

You're passionate about supporting taiohito achieve their goals and live meaningful lives.

You may already be leading a team, or youmay be an experienced clinician looking for the right opportunity to take thenext step into leadership. Either way, you're someone who enjoys helping othersgrow, building strong relationships, and creating positive change.

You'll bring curiosity, initiative, and acollaborative approach to your work, along with the ability to build trust withtaiohi, whānau, colleagues, and community partners.

Most importantly, you'll be someone whobelieves that great outcomes come from strong relationships, shared purpose,and a willingness to continually learn and improve.

Skills and experience | Ngā pūkenga mengā wheako

You'll have:

  • Registration and a current APC as an Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurse, Social Worker, DAPAANZ practitioner, or other relevant registered health professional.
  • Experience working in mental health, addiction, youth wellbeing, health, disability, or social services.
  • Leadership experience, or demonstrated leadership potential and a desire to develop as a leader.
  • Experience engaging with young people experiencing mental health and/or addiction challenges.
  • The ability to build effective relationships across health, education, and community sectors.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • A commitment to modelling wellbeing, professionalism, and values-based leadership.
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
