Housekeeping Jobs

Housekeeping jobs are in steady demand across hotels, motels, retirement villages, hospitals, and private homes. From guest services to healthcare facilities, employers are looking for reliable housekeepers who can keep spaces safe, welcoming, and spotless.

Day-to-day work

Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning and preparing rooms, bathrooms, and common areas to a high standard. Roles often include making beds, handling laundry, restocking supplies, and using commercial cleaning products or equipment. Many jobs also involve deep cleans, preparing spaces for new guests, and reporting maintenance issues.

Career progression

Careers as a housekeeper can develop into senior roles such as team leader, supervisor, or executive housekeeper in hotels and resorts. In aged care and healthcare settings, there are pathways into facilities management and specialised cleaning positions. With training and experience, housekeepers can also move into broader hospitality or operations roles.

Skills employers look for

Employers consistently look for attention to detail, time management, and the ability to follow procedures. Physical fitness, reliability, and a positive attitude are also highly valued. In some roles, knowledge of handling cleaning chemicals, experience with commercial equipment, or strong customer service skills can set candidates apart.
