Joining the team The process takes between 3 and 18 months depending on your role, medical and fitness checks, and sometimes a selection interview. To apply, you must: Be at least 17 and 9 months before starting recruit training (you can register interest earlier at 17). Have at least 3 years of secondary education. Some roles require NCEA Level 2 or Tertiary qualifications.
