Job Description

Tradestaff Wellington is looking for an experienced Industrial Painter to join our team for ongoing work across the Wellington region.


We’re looking for someone with solid industrial painting experience who understands the importance of surface preparation, coating application, quality finishes, and working safely in industrial environments.

About the Role

You’ll be working across a range of industrial projects, carrying out preparation and protective coating work on steel, machinery, structures, and other industrial surfaces.

Your duties may include:

  • Preparing steel and other surfaces for painting and coating
  • Grinding, sanding, scraping, cleaning, and masking
  • Applying primers, protective coatings, and industrial paint systems
  • Brush, roller, and spray application
  • Mixing and preparing paints and coatings to specification
  • Identifying and addressing surface defects before coating
  • Working around structural steel, plant, machinery, and industrial equipment
  • Maintaining tools, equipment, and a clean work area
  • Following site-specific Health & Safety procedures
  • What We’re Looking ForPrevious industrial painting experience
  • Strong surface preparation skills
  • Experience with protective and industrial coating systems
  • Spray painting experience is highly advantageous
  • Confident using grinders, sanders, and other preparation equipment
  • A good understanding of coating preparation and application requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing a quality finish
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good understanding of workplace Health & Safety
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Ability to complete a satisfactory Ministry of Justice check
  • Site Safe, EWP, Working at Heights, or Confined Space tickets would be advantageous
