The role:


You'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy diesel equipment, ensuring maximum reliability and availability across Wellington.


Your work will include:

  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
  • Preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
  • Working on wheel loaders, excavators, log loaders, material handlers, terminal tractors and other specialist equipment
  • Mentoring an apprentice mechanic
  • Completing maintenance records and working closely with operations to minimise downtime
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and maintaining high safety standards


About you:


You'll ideally have:

  • A recognised Heavy Automotive Engineering qualification (MITO or equivalent)
  • Solid experience maintaining heavy diesel machinery
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience with hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems
  • A commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety
  • The ability to mentor and support junior team members
  • A full New Zealand Driver Licence
  • Class 2 and 4 licences with W, T & R endorsements (advantageous)
  • Availability to participate in an on-call roster
