About the Role


This is a wonderful opportunity to join our small, well-established Montessori preschool for 15 hours per week across 3 or 4 days .


Working across our two classrooms, you will support up to 18 children aged 2.5 to 5 years in each room, within our intimate preschool community of just 36 children. You'll work alongside a passionate teaching team that is committed to providing high-quality care and education while nurturing peaceful, connected global citizens.


Ideally, you'll hold a Montessori qualification or have previous experience in a Montessori environment, with an understanding of observation, child-led learning, independence, respect, and maintaining a carefully prepared learning environment. However, we would also love to hear from applicants who have a genuine interest in Montessori philosophy and are eager to learn.


Reporting to our Centre Manager and working as part of a supportive team, you'll help create meaningful learning experiences and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the centre.


In this role, you will:


  • Provide exceptional care and support to our tamariki
  • Foster positive relationships with children, whānau, and colleagues
  • Support children's learning through engaging and purposeful experiences
  • Participate across both classrooms and assist with staff breaks as required
  • Help maintain our peaceful, respectful, and carefully prepared environment
  • Support centre operations wherever needed


Role Requirements


We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children and is committed to making a positive difference in their lives.


To be successful in this role, you'll have:


  • Experience working with children under five years of age
  • A natural ability to connect with and nurture young learners
  • Strong initiative and the ability to follow direction when required
  • Flexibility to work across different classrooms
  • Confidence supporting children's learning and development
  • A calm, caring, and positive approach
  • A commitment to maintaining a clean, organised, and respectful environment


While an ECE qualification is not required, experience working with young children is essential.
