Job Description

We are looking for experienced Fabricator Welders to join a busy and well-established engineering workshop.


This role is suited to someone with strong fabrication, welding and engineering skills who can confidently take projects from technical drawings through to completion. While much of the work involves truck bodies, trailers and heavy equipment, the key focus is on quality fabrication, precision welding and practical engineering .


Key Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting engineering and fabrication drawings
  • Heavy structural fabrication, fitting and assembly
  • MIG, Flux Core and Stick welding – FCAW & SMAW
  • Some TIG welding of aluminium and stainless steel
  • Repair, modification and strengthening of heavy equipment
  • Accurate measuring, cutting, fitting and fabrication
  • Working independently and meeting production deadlines


Skills & Experience

  • NZ Level 4 Engineering qualification or equivalent trade qualification is highly regarded
  • 3+ years' experience in heavy fabrication, engineering or a similar environment
  • Strong welding and fabrication skills
  • Ability to fabricate accurately from technical drawings
  • Good fitting, measuring and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work unsupervised and take projects from start to finish
  • Strong commitment to Health & Safety and quality workmanship


Experience with truck bodies, trailers or transport equipment is beneficial, but strong engineering and fabrication capability is the priority .

What’s On Offer

  • $30–$39+ per hour , depending on experience
  • Higher rates for highly skilled welders
