Ace Machinery is a family-owned and operated business located in Invercargill, dedicated to delivering high-quality servicing and repairs to Southland's thriving farming and agricultural sector. Our small but committed team of 9 takes real pride in the work we do - supporting our customers with reliable service, expert diagnostics, and a strong focus on quality.


We're looking for a skilled Service Technician to join our team. This full-time position involves working both in the workshop and out in the field, servicing tractors and a wide range of modern agricultural equipment.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and transmission faults
  • Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Use diagnostic tools and service software to troubleshoot machinery issues
  • Maintain detailed service records and follow safety procedures
  • Assist clients with professional support both on-site and in the workshop
  • Work independently or as part of a team to complete jobs efficiently


To be considered for this opportunity, you'll need to demonstrate:


  • Relevant trade certificate or proven experience in a similar role
  • Experience as a qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic is desirable but not essential
  • Full NZ driver's licence
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrics
  • Diagnostic expertise - able to identify issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Comfortable using service software and diagnostic tools
  • Experience with John Deere Service Advisor is a bonus, but not essential
  • Self-motivated and hardworking
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work both independently and within a team
  • Positive attitude with a focus on customer satisfaction
  • Organised and reliable

This is a full-time, permanent position with hours that vary depending on job location and workload - overtime is frequently required during peak seasons and is well compensated with penalty rates for additional hours and call-outs.
