The opportunity


A well-established and successful automotive dealership in Palmerston North is looking for an experienced Automotive Technician to join its busy workshop team.


This is a great opportunity for a trade-qualified technician who enjoys working on modern vehicles, takes pride in quality workmanship, and wants to develop their skills within a professional dealership environment.


You'll be joining a team where technical ability, attention to detail and a commitment to doing the job right are valued.


About the role


Working alongside an experienced workshop team, you'll carry out servicing, diagnostics, repairs and inspections across a range of late-model light vehicles.


You'll play an important role in keeping workshop operations running efficiently while ensuring every vehicle is completed to manufacturer and dealership standards.


Key responsibilities


  • Complete scheduled servicing, repairs and diagnostic work
  • Carry out vehicle inspections and identify faults accurately
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and technical issues
  • Follow manufacturer specifications and dealership procedures
  • Communicate clearly with Service Advisors regarding job progress and findings
  • Maintain accurate job cards and workshop documentation
  • Keep your work area clean, organised and safe
  • Take part in ongoing brand training and technical development
  • Support a positive, productive and professional workshop culture


What we are looking for


  • Relevant automotive trade qualification
  • Proven experience as an Automotive Technician in a dealership environment
  • Franchise and brand training experience highly regarded
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Confidence using modern diagnostic equipment and workshop systems
  • Current full driver's licence
  • High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
  • Reliable, positive attitude and strong team focus
  • A genuine interest in ongoing learning and development
