Job Description

Join Bastion Aotearoa as a Social Manager based in Auckland!

Be part of an independent agency where bold ideas, creative energy, and true collaboration combine to put brands, organisations, and people in a position of strength.

About Us – Ko wai mātou

We bring together strategy, creative, design, digital, PR, social, influencer, and experiential expertise under one integrated model to create meaningful and award-winning growth for people, brands, and organisations. We partner with some of Aotearoa’s most exciting clients – delivering strategic, creative, and commercial solutions that make a real difference.

Our culture is built on integration, collaboration, diversity, curiosity, creativity, and fun. We ask our team to be all in: to relentlessly think, pursue and discover imaginative ways to advance our clients' businesses, challenge norms, reject mediocrity and dare to be different - because the same is, well, just the same. We're never afraid to go against the grain to do work that moves people.

The Role - Te Tūnga mahi

  • Act as the day-to-day lead for managing social channels across clients, acting as a trusted advisor to stakeholders and providing clear, informed counsel.
  • Guide small to mid-sized campaigns across organic social, paid media, influencer marketing and creative content, with a focus on quality, innovation and measurable impact.
  • Support the team with creative ideation as needed, and act as a producer across lo-fi social shoots (with the option, if you're keen, to feature in branded content as paid work).

Content Calendar Management

  • Plan and maintain detailed social content calendars for each client and campaign, aligned to brand tone, business objectives and briefs.
  • Schedule posts across platforms and coordinate with internal teams on content deadlines and publishing schedules.
  • Update and adjust calendars in real time to accommodate changes or optimisations.

Community Management

  • Monitor client social channels daily for comments, messages and engagement, responding in a timely, brand-appropriate manner.
  • Escalate issues or sensitive feedback to the relevant internal or client teams.
  • Grow community engagement through strategic interaction and conversation.

Caption Writing

  • Write engaging, platform-appropriate copy that aligns with each client's tone of voice, adapting messaging across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and beyond.
  • Collaborate with creative and strategy teams to ensure captions support visual content and broader objectives.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice across all social touchpoints.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Track content performance using platform analytics and third-party tools.
  • Create weekly and monthly reports covering engagement, reach, growth and other KPIs.
  • Interpret data to provide actionable insights and optimisation strategies, identifying trends and content types that are over- or under-performing.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with social creatives to plan and brief content that meets campaign goals.
  • Partner with account service teams to ensure client feedback and objectives are clearly incorporated.
  • Liaise with production to align timelines and deliverables for social content.

  • The ability to build credible, consultative relationships and guide clients through decision-making.
  • Clear written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to turn complex information into focused recommendations.
