About us

Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki | Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) has supported early childhood education in Tāmaki Makaurau since 1908. Today, our organisation includes 112 kindergartens and KiNZ centres, and a dedicated Support Services team.

Our bicultural approach is grounded in Te Whāriki and our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Tamariki and whānau are at the heart of our work, and we provide safe, inclusive and enriching learning environments where every tamaiti can develop as a confident and capable learner.

About Marlborough Kindergarten

Our philosophy is centred on the power of play, supporting tamariki to enjoy meaningful learning through discovery, creativity and exploration. As a proud Enviroschool, we incorporate sustainable practices into everyday experiences, encouraging care and curiosity for the natural world. Te reo Māori and tikanga Māori are woven throughout our curriculum, reflecting the unique bicultural identity of Aotearoa.

As our Administrator, you will work alongside a supportive and collaborative kindergarten team and be part of the wider AKA whānau. You will also have opportunities to connect with colleagues across our 112 kindergartens and KiNZ centres throughout Tāmaki Makaurau.

About the role

As our Kindergarten Administrator, you will be part of a supportive team and work closely with kaiako, support staff, tamariki and whānau.

You will be responsible for the kindergarten’s day-to-day administration, including:

  • Managing enrolment processes
  • Supporting accounts and financial administration
  • Maintaining accurate records and information
  • Providing administrative support to the Head Kaiako and teaching team
  • Communicating professionally with whānau and the wider community

This is a permanent, part-time position for 12 hours per week, three to four days a week. There is flexibility around when the hours are worked, and you will work during kindergarten term time only.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have previous administration and accounts experience, preferably within an early childhood environment, although this is not essential
  • Be a confident communicator who demonstrates professionalism and maturity
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our diverse community
  • Be flexible, adaptable and willing to help where needed
  • Work collaboratively while also being able to self-manage and work independently
  • Use initiative and take responsibility for achieving positive outcomes
  • Have strong computer skills, preferably with experience using Mac
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail
  • Bring a positive attitude, enjoy having fun and contribute as a supportive team member

If you are looking for an opportunity to use your administration skills in a meaningful role that offers flexibility around other commitments, we would love to hear from you.

The terms and conditions for this position are set out in the Kindergarten Associations Support Staff Collective Agreement.
