Are you good with your hands, enjoy fixing things and like working out how things work?

We're looking for someone to join our Maintenance Team in Bluff. While mainly based at our Bluff salmon processing factory, you may also work at our port site, on one of our vessels, or at our salmon farm in Rakiura Stewart Island.

We're interested in people at different stages of their maintenance career. You don't have to have years of experience or tick every box.


You might be:

  • A qualified tradesperson looking for your next challenge
  • Just starting out in your trade
  • Someone with good hands-on mechanical or engineering experience but no formal trade qualification
  • Working in manufacturing, engineering, farming, marine, automotive or another practical environment
  • Someone with some maintenance experience who is keen to learn and develop their skills

About the role

Our maintenance team helps keep the Bluff salmon processing plant running safely and smoothly.


Your day-to-day work could include:

  • Fixing and maintaining machinery and equipment
  • Carrying out regular maintenance to help prevent breakdowns
  • Finding faults and working out how to fix them
  • Responding to breakdowns when equipment stops working
  • Working on pumps, vacuum systems, conveyors, processing machinery and other equipment
  • Helping keep our plant, equipment and buildings in good working order
  • Working with the production team to get equipment back up and running
  • Recording your work in our maintenance system
  • Helping identify ways we can make our equipment more reliable


No two days are exactly the same, and you'll get the opportunity to learn about a wide range of equipment.


What we're looking for

  • We're more interested in what you can do and your attitude to learning than having the perfect list of qualifications.
  • You'll ideally have some experience with mechanical, engineering, maintenance or practical hands-on work.


It would be great if you have:

  • Mechanical or engineering experience
  • Experience fixing, maintaining or working with machinery
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • A practical, "give it a go" attitude
  • The ability to work safely and follow instructions
  • A willingness to learn new skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer skills


A trade qualification is an advantage, but it isn't essential for the right person.

If you're experienced, we'd love to hear from you.

If you're relatively new to maintenance but have the right attitude and ability, we'd also love to hear from you.

There may be opportunities for the right person to undertake further training and work towards a formal maintenance qualification.
