About the role


We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Store Manager - Bayfair to lead our Max store in the Tauranga. This is a full-time position based at our Bayfair location, where you will take ownership of all store operations and drive business success. As Store Manager, you will be the strategic leader of your store, responsible for creating an engaging shopping environment, managing a talented team, and delivering exceptional results that align with Max vision and values.


Key responsibilities


  • Lead, manage and develop a high-performing store team, providing coaching, mentoring and performance management to drive engagement and excellence
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets and financial objectives through effective planning, merchandising and promotional execution
  • Ensure the store is impeccably presented at all times, maintaining visual merchandising standards and store conditions that reflect the Max brand
  • Manage store inventory, stock levels and ordering processes to optimise product availability and minimise shrinkage
  • Deliver outstanding customer service standards and create a positive shopping experience that drives customer loyalty and repeat business
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance, identify trends and opportunities, and implement strategies to drive growth
  • Manage P&L responsibilities, including budgeting, cost control and profitability initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies and procedures
  • Liaise with head office, regional management and other store locations to share best practice and support business initiatives


What we're looking for


  • Proven experience as a Store Manager or similar leadership role within the retail sector, preferably in fashion or consumer goods
  • Strong track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and driving business performance
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop team members
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and experience managing P&L, budgets and operational costs
  • Exceptional customer service orientation with a passion for delivering outstanding shopping experiences
  • Strong visual merchandising knowledge and an eye for creating attractive, on-brand store displays
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with retail management systems and point-of-sale technology
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required for retail operations
  • A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
