Zespri is more than simply the world's single-largest marketer of kiwifruit. We like to think of ourselves as fruit on a mission and as rebels with a cause: to help people, communities and the environment around the world thrive through the goodness of kiwifruit. We are proudly the world's largest marketer of kiwifruit, selling kiwifruit in more than 50 countries. We work with around 2,800 New Zealand and 1,500 international growers and post-harvest companies to source the best-quality Zespri Kiwifruit which we supply through our distribution partners to wholesale and retail customers. We are one of New Zealand's best-known international brands, dedicated to creating sustainable long-term value for growers.

He aha te mahi? What's the role?

We have an exciting opportunity for a People & Payroll Advisor to join our People Services team in Mount Maunganui on a 10 month fixed term contract . Sitting at the heart of the People Team, this role brings together payroll coordination, people data and operational people support to help deliver seamless experiences through the moments that matter for our people.

Reporting to the Payroll and Reporting Lead, this role coordinates payroll delivery through our external provider, ensures people data and reporting is accurate and accessible, and supports employee lifecycle activities in a clear, consistent and people-centred way. You will also play an important role in strengthening our digital-first approach by championing PeopleService Now, improving processes and helping make People Services simpler and easier to access.

While the initial focus will be supporting New Zealand payroll, people data and reporting, this role is part of a global People Services environment. As you become established in the role, there may also be opportunities to flex and support activity across other regions, where capacity and business needs align.

You will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating payroll delivery through our external payroll provider, including resolving queries, completing reconciliations and supporting compliance activities.
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant people and payroll information across our systems.
  • Completing and validating employee data transactions, uploads and key information changes.
  • Producing practical people reports and insights using SAP SuccessFactors, Excel and Power BI.
  • Using and advocating for PeopleService Now to support consistent service delivery and employee self-service.
  • Maintaining process documentation and knowledge resources that enable effective digital-first support.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and ways of working across People Services.
  • Contributing to wider People Team initiatives, projects and transformation activities.

Ko wai koe? Who are you?

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused People or Payroll professional who enjoys bringing accuracy, structure and excellent service to everything you do. You are confident working with data and digital tools, build trusted relationships easily and take a practical, solutions-focused approach to resolving questions and improving processes.

You will bring:

  • Strong payroll administration or coordination experience, ideally involving an external payroll provider.
  • Experience using an HRIS to maintain employee data, produce reports and support people processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence analysing and presenting people data.
  • A working understanding of relevant HR, payroll, employment, tax and privacy principles.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and time management skills.
  • Clear communication, sound judgement and practical problem-solving capability.
  • Digital curiosity and the ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering a positive employee and leader experience.
  • Comfortable working in a global environment and able to adapt your support across different regions, processes and stakeholder needs.
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Commerce or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience with SAP SuccessFactors, Power BI, ServiceNow or a similar case management platform would be a bonus.
