Executive Laundry Group Ltd is one of the Wellington region's leading commercial laundries. We operate a modern, high-volume production facility using specialised industrial washing, drying, finishing and automated material-handling equipment.


We are looking for a practical and mechanically minded person to join our experienced engineering team as an Engineering Apprentice / Maintenance Trainee.


This is a long-term opportunity for someone who genuinely wants to learn our industry, develop valuable technical skills and become an important member of our engineering team. It may particularly suit an experienced worker or career-changer who brings maturity, reliability and a strong work ethic but is looking for the opportunity to learn a new trade.


About the role


Working alongside our experienced engineers, you will learn how to maintain, repair and improve a wide range of industrial laundry and production equipment.


Your responsibilities will develop over time and include:


  • Assisting with preventative maintenance and equipment servicing
  • Helping diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns
  • Working with industrial washing, drying, ironing, folding and automated rail systems
  • Assisting with machinery installation and plant improvement projects
  • Completing routine inspections and maintenance records
  • Maintaining tools, equipment and engineering work areas
  • Following all health and safety procedures
  • Developing an understanding of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems
  • Supporting the engineering team to keep our seven-day operation running reliably


About you

We are looking for someone who:


  • Is mechanically minded and enjoys understanding how machinery works
  • Has practical skills and confidence using hand and power tools
  • Is reliable, punctual and committed to regular attendance
  • Takes pride in completing work properly
  • Is safety-conscious and able to follow instructions
  • Is comfortable working in a busy industrial environment
  • Can work independently while also contributing to a team
  • Is physically capable of undertaking practical maintenance work
  • Has good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
  • Is looking for a stable, long-term career rather than a short-term position


Previous experience in engineering, mechanical maintenance, automotive work, fabrication, construction, farming or another practical trade environment would be advantageous. However, attitude, reliability and a genuine interest in learning are equally important.

A full New Zealand driver licence would also be beneficial.
