Job Description


Our Christchurch depot is looking for an experienced Night Yard Operator to join the team. Working Monday to Friday, you will play a critical role in ensuring our operation runs smoothly throughout the night.


This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has exceptional vehicle handling skills. You'll be responsible for moving and positioning a variety of vehicle combinations, ensuring trailers and units are correctly placed on dock for loading and unloading while maintaining to strict operational deadlines.


Success in this role depends on your ability to confidently manoeuvre and reverse multiple vehicle combinations, including B-Trains, Quads, Truck and Trailer units, and rigid vehicles.


We're looking for someone who can:


* Safely operating and manoeuvring a variety of vehicle combinations within the yard

* Reversing units onto loading docks for loading and unloading

* Coupling and uncoupling trailers as required

* Working closely with dispatch, warehouse and loading teams to ensure freight movements occur on time

* Completing daily vehicle safety checks and reporting defects

* Ensuring all yard activities are carried out safely and efficiently

* Maintaining a tidy, organised and safe working environment

* Supporting operational requirements to ensure customer expectations are met

* Full Class 5 license

* Experience operating and reversing:

* B-Train combinations

* Quad trailer combinations

* Truck and Trailer units

* Rigid trucks

* Ability to work independently and under pressure

* Good communication and teamwork skills

* Reliable and a strong work ethic

* Possesses an F endorsement – preferred but not essential
