The opportunity


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join a busy, professional workshop environment with a leading truck franchise dealership in Wellington.


Working across commercial truck fleets, you'll play an important role in ensuring vehicles are maintained to high standards of safety, reliability and performance. You'll be part of a fast-paced team where quality workmanship and customer service are highly valued.

Key responsibilities


  • Diagnose, service and repair diesel engines and heavy-duty truck systems
  • Maintain and repair electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Complete engine, brake, steering, COF and accident repairs
  • Utilise modern diagnostic equipment to accurately identify faults and carry out repairs
  • Work closely with Service Advisors and workshop colleagues to achieve efficient job turnaround
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and reliability


Skills and experience sought


  • Relevant automotive trade qualification, preferably as a Diesel Mechanic
  • Proven experience working as a Diesel Mechanic, ideally within a dealership or similar environment
  • Experience with late-model trucks
  • Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent mechanical knowledge and attention to detail
  • Confidence using modern diagnostic equipment and technology
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge of diesel engines and truck systems, including brakes, hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a busy team environment
