This role is pivotal in providing support across a number of different areas of fundraising and our commitment to fundraising growth.


You will work with amazing, passionate people and a team who are all dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of tamariki.


This permanent role is 40 hours per week based in our Wellington National Office.


You'll get to know our diverse organisation closely by working across a variety of different areas of fundraising, including grants, trust and foundations, providing community fundraising support and through working alongside our major donor, corporate and legacy managers.


Key Responsibilities


  • Work alongside the Trust and Grants Fundraiser in efforts to support and enhance Barnardos fundraising program.
  • Research Barnardos projects requiring funding and build a compelling case for support; and ensure accountability documents are prepared and submitted on time.
  • Processing and administration support for the Barnardos Managed Funds and Max e-Grants.
  • Provide community fundraising support to interested parties wanting to support the work of Barnardos
  • Support the wider fundraising team and be a point of contact for all donors and provide excellent supporter care.

Skills and experience


  • Our ideal candidate will be bursting with enthusiasm, confidence and be keen to help our people have the support needed to have a real and positive impact on the livelihoods of tamariki and rangatahi. Ideally you will:
  • have previous fundraising experience
  • thrive on balancing multiple priorities to meet deadlines, cope well under pressure and achieve revenue targets
  • use your solid writing and communication skills and the ability to work independently to achieve great outcomes
  • Be skilled in both written and oral communication, and have a warm and professional telephone manner
  • be a team player, keen to engage with others, seek opinions and guidance and contribute positively to our team and organisational culture.
  • Enjoy building and maintaining strong and positive relationships
