About the Role

Unite Recruit is looking for experienced Carpenters to join construction projects across the Wellington region.


We have opportunities for qualified and experienced carpenters with skills across foundations, framing, structural carpentry, formwork, fit-out and finishing work.


Our projects vary, so you could be working on residential, commercial, civil or infrastructure construction sites, depending on your experience and the requirements of the project.


We are looking for practical, reliable tradespeople who take pride in their workmanship and can work safely and efficiently as part of a team.


What You'll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will vary depending on the project and your experience, but may include:

  • General carpentry and construction work
  • Foundation and subfloor construction
  • Setting out and preparing work areas
  • Framing, timber structures and structural carpentry
  • Formwork and concrete preparation
  • Installing doors, windows, cladding and other building components
  • Internal fit-out and finishing carpentry
  • Measuring, cutting and installing timber and other materials
  • Reading and working from plans, drawings and specifications
  • Using hand tools, power tools and carpentry equipment
  • Completing repairs, alterations and remedial carpentry
  • Working alongside builders, tradespeople, labourers and site supervisors
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and site safety
  • Keeping work areas clean, organised and free from hazards
  • What You'll Receive $32–$42 per hour, depending on experience and skills

What We Need

We are looking for Carpenters who have:

  • Proven experience working as a Carpenter
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry and construction practices
  • Experience with some or all of foundations, framing, formwork, structural carpentry or finishing
  • Ability to read plans, drawings and measurements
  • Confidence using hand and power tools
  • Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Reliable transport and good attendance
  • A positive and professional attitude

Desirable:

  • NZ-recognised carpentry qualification
  • Full NZ driver's licence
  • Site Safe certification
  • Experience in commercial or civil construction
  • Experience with concrete and foundation work
  • Experience with finishing and fit-out
  • Experience supervising or leading other workers
