Are you studying towards your ECE qualification and ready to grow your teaching career in a supportive, fun and passionate team? BestStart Huntsbury is looking for a dedicated Teacher in Training to join our close-knit centre community.

Nestled at the foot of Huntsbury Hill near the Ōpāwaho River, our purpose-built centre sits on the historic site of St Anne’s Church. We’re proud to continue the site’s strong connection to the local community and families.

Licensed for 110 children, our centre has dedicated nursery and over-twos spaces, with a passionate teaching team focused on creating a nurturing environment where every child can learn, grow and thrive.


About the Role


This is a permanent position working 32 hours per week , across four 8-hour days, Monday to Thursday . You’ll need to be flexible to work within our centre hours of 7:30am to 5:30pm .

About You


We’re looking for someone who:


  • Is enrolled in a Level 7 ECE Bachelor programme, ideally in their 1st or 2nd year
  • Brings enthusiasm, warmth and a genuine passion for working with tamariki
  • Values child-led learning and development
  • Has an understanding of Te Whāriki and ECE Regulations
  • Is committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
  • Wants to learn, grow and contribute as part of a supportive team
