Mō te tūranga nei | About the Job:

We're looking for an RN or EN to conduct telephonic Pre Admissions assessment and triaging of patients prior to admission for elective surgeries at Allevia Hospitals. This is a 0.8 FTE (32 hrs per week) position working rostered shifts across Monday to Friday. The earliest start time is 0700 and latest finish time is 1700.  You will be based within our Patient Flow Team at Allevia Hospital Epsom , and liaising closely (by phone and email) with Specialists, Anaesthetists, and Charge Nurse Managers. In this role you'll work largely independently, and other than occasionally helping out in the adjacent Admissions Unit, you will not have any hands-on patient contact.

  • Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Minimum of  3 years current experience in an inpatient surgical or Admissions environment, within NZ or a comparable healthcare system e.g. Australia, UK, Ireland.
  • Great phone manner with outstanding communication skills
  • The ability to sensitively handle difficult conversations - to promote the best outcomes for all parties
  • Computer literacy and confidence - you'll be using several systems
  • Great time management skills to ensure everything runs to schedule
