About the role:

Edit Picton is a stunning hotel located by the harbour, the perfect location to explore the dramatic local coastline and New Zealand wine country. This 49-room boutique hotel has recently been refurbished and is looking for a Chef de Partie to join our Kitchen team!

We are looking for someone who has a passion and desire to continue to grow your career and to be part of a hardworking team. This is a fast-paced environment, so you need to be well-organised, self-motivated and not afraid of hard work.

As a Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for the Food production of their allocated section with regard to quality, consistency, productivity and training, ensuring high standards at all times.

You will be working full-time, 30 to 40 hours per week, and reporting to the Head Chef.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation requirements
  • Maintaining and ordering stocks and supplies
  • Ensure stock is controlled and rotated
  • Organise a daily work schedule and ordering requirements
  • Maintain a clean, safe and tidy work environment at all times
  • Work unsupervised, being able to manage other chefs and orders


Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' kitchen experience in a similar role in high-end restaurant or hotel environment OR have completed bachelor's degree in Hotel Management and/or Culinary Arts
  • Hold NZ citizenship, permanent residency or a current valid work visa
  • Physically fit and able to stand for the duration of a shift (8 hours)
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently with a positive attitude
  • Ability to handle pressure calmly and professionally
  • Good communication skills and be able to work in a team as well as working unsupervised
  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts full-time including weekends, public holidays, early shifts, and night shifts
  • Professional appearance
