Job Description

Residential Carpenter

Tradestaff is looking for an experienced Residential Carpenter to join quality building projects in Central City, Christchurch. We’re after a skilled carpenter who takes pride in their workmanship and can confidently contribute across different stages of residential construction.


Location: Central City, Christchurch

Start date: Immediate start

Pay rate: $32–$37 per hour + weekly pay


  • What You'll Be DoingComplete carpentry work across residential new builds, renovations, and alterations
  • Construct timber framing and structural building components
  • Install cladding and exterior building systems
  • Carry out interior fit-out and detailed finishing work
  • Install doors, windows, joinery, and associated hardware
  • Read plans and specifications to complete work accurately
  • Coordinate effectively with site supervisors and other trades
  • What We're Looking ForNZ Level 4 Carpentry qualification or recognised equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ residential carpentry experience
  • Strong practical knowledge of NZ residential construction methods
  • Confident reading and interpreting building plans and specifications
  • High standard of workmanship with excellent attention to detail
  • Current NZ driver licence and reliable transport
  • Site Safe preferred or willingness to obtain it
