HVAC / Air Conditioning Service Technician – Wellington

We are on the hunt for an experienced Service Technician to join a leading HVAC service and maintenance team in Wellington.

This is a key field role providing high-quality repairs, servicing, maintenance, installation, and commissioning of commercial and light commercial HVAC equipment across the Wellington region.

What you’ll earn

  • $40 – $50 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
  • 40 hours per week
  • Overtime opportunities
  • On-call roster with attractive allowance

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver prompt, professional repairs, servicing, maintenance, installation, and commissioning of commercial HVAC systems to the highest standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including direct negotiation and problem resolution with clients.
  • Complete accurate job documentation, update service records, and maintain service vehicle and tools to company standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the service team and report to the Regional Service Manager / Service Supervisor.

Essential Requirements

  • Trade qualified (NZQA accredited HVAC/Refrigeration qualification)
  • ‘D’ Permit Electrical License and CFC License (Refrigerant Handling)
  • Minimum 5 years field experience as an Air Conditioning / HVAC Service Technician
  • Current full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Permanent work rights in New Zealand (no visa sponsorship)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills on commercial HVAC units
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

Advantageous

  • EST registration or additional electrical qualifications
  • Experience with large commercial systems
  • Supervisory or leadership experience
