About the role:


Located in a beautiful location in the Canterbury region, just an-hour-drive away from Christchurch, Fable Terrace Downs Resort is looking for a Greens Assistant to maintain the championship 18-hole golf course designed by Sid Puddicombe .


Rebranded to Fable Terrace Downs Resort by MGallery in 2022, this beauty boasts a stunning view with a Pro Golf Shop, 25 deluxe 2 and 3-bedroom Villas, Café and Restaurant options. Nested under the shadow of the picturesque Southern Alps, Fable Terrace Downs Resort by MGallery is a perfect venue for special events or just a golf weekend away.


This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is willing to progress and develop their turf management career, as well as gaining experience in Golf Club management.


This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role, with occasional weekend and public holidays as business required. Due to the remote location of the Resort, you will preferably have your own transport.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Execute turf management tasks such as mowing and assisting in irrigation, fertilisation, and pest control if required.
  • Operate and maintain specialised turf equipment in accordance with safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines
  • Assisting the ground staff in maintaining the presentation of the golf course, practice facilities, clubhouse
  • gardens and surroundings
  • Work with the Course Manager to coordinate course maintenance schedules and special events
  • From time to time might be required to assist with pro shop operations, assist in the maintenance of golf carts, rental clubs, and golf range balls including cleaning.
  • Perform any other duties within the employee’s range of competence as required by the Resort.


Skills and Requirements:


  • Punctual, organised and trustworthy
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Professional appearance and physically fit
  • Current eligibility to work in New Zealand
  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts full-time, including weekends if needed
  • Current eligibility to work in NZ is a must


The following will be an advantage but not a deal breaker:


  • Experience in basic turf management including mowing and gardening skills
  • Experience operating machinery related to turf management
  • Experience in identifying and controlling weeds and pests
  • Some mechanical aptitude as we maintain a wide variety of machinery ourselves
  • Chemical handlers or safety certificate
  • Wheels tracks rollers license
