We are looking for a friendly and reliable Retail Assistant to join our team at Kristin School in Albany on a casual basis.


In this varied role, you will help create an enjoyable retail café experience by providing excellent customer service, preparing and presenting food, serving espresso coffee, processing sales, and keeping the café clean and inviting.


This is a casual position, with shifts offered as and when required based on business needs. Weekly hours are not guaranteed, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who values flexibility and enjoys working in a busy, customer-focused environment.


Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:


  • Deliver warm, welcoming and professional service to customers.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system and process cash transactions accurately.
  • Prepare, portion and present food in line with food safety requirements.
  • Prepare and serve espresso coffee while maintaining coffee-making equipment.
  • Keep front-of-house and back-of-house areas clean, organised and well presented.


He kōrero mōu / About you:


  • Previous experience providing excellent customer service.
  • Cash-handling or point-of-sale experience.
  • A positive, flexible and dependable approach to work.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • The physical fitness to complete the role’s duties safely and efficiently.
  • Previous barista experience or an NZQA Food Handling Certificate would be advantageous but is not essential.
