Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Packing & Loading Technician to join a well-established Christchurch-based manufacturer that designs and exports large-scale industrial equipment to customers around the globe. This is a physically active role where you'll play a critical part in ensuring machinery and equipment are packed, secured, and loaded safely for international transport.

About the Role

As a Packing & Loading Technician, you'll be responsible for preparing machinery, assemblies, and components for transport by building crates, assembling transport frames, securing loads, and loading containers according to established plans and safety standards. You'll work closely with logistics, manufacturing, and assembly teams to ensure shipments leave on time and arrive safely.


Key Responsibilities

  • Pack, label, and prepare machinery, parts, and assemblies for dispatch
  • Build pallets, crates, and transport frames from plans and specifications
  • Load containers and secure equipment using tie-downs, straps, and approved methods
  • Coordinate container loading and unloading activities with transport providers
  • Complete packing records, checklists, and shipment documentation
  • Maintain inventory levels and stock control within the packing department
  • Ensure work areas remain clean, organised, and aligned with 5S practices
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives


About You

To be successful, you'll ideally bring:

  • Previous experience in a packing, loading, logistics, manufacturing, export, or heavy industrial environment
  • Practical skills in securing loads for transport and container loading
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings or assembly instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and within a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a safety-first mindset
  • A current New Zealand driver's licence with F endorsement (preferred)
  • Gantry crane or rigging experience advantageous, but training can be provided
