Trade Assistant | Immediate Start


Hands-on role supporting complex marine and engineering projects


We are seeking reliable and experienced Trade Assistants for a full-time temporary opportunity with a leading engineering services provider based in Devonport. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, varied work and thrives in a team-focused environment.


About the Role


Working alongside skilled tradespeople, you will support ship and shore-based maintenance, repair, overhaul, and refurbishment projects. This is a practical, hands-on role offering exposure to a variety of marine engineering activities.


Key Responsibilities


  • Hot Work, Confined Space, and Working at Height Sentry duties
  • Surface preparation including grinding, sanding, chipping and blasting
  • Painting and coatings application
  • Assisting with welding and fabrication activities
  • Operating hand tools, power tools and equipment
  • General site support, housekeeping and labouring duties


What You'll Need


  • 3+ years' experience in an industrial, marine or engineering environment
  • Full NZ Driver Licence (Class 1 minimum)
  • Physically fit with a strong commitment to health and safety
  • Confined Space Entry certification
  • Fire Extinguisher training
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team


Desirable Skills ( not required, but advantageous)


  • Gas Testing certification
  • EWP licence
  • Forklift licence
  • HIAB ticket
  • Working at Heights certification
  • Welding experience
  • First Aid certificate
