Job Description

The Stormwater Superhero Trailer is a fun and engaging mobile education tool designed to raise awareness about stormwater, contaminants, and behaviour changes that improve waterway health. Facilitators deliver interactive activities and conversations with the public, inspiring individuals and communities to adopt positive stormwater management habits.

This role supports the Christchurch Envirohub’s Stormwater Superhero Trailer programme by leading the delivery of environmental education at community, school and commercial events. The Lead Facilitator engages the public in interactive activities and ensures smooth event operations.

Ideal experience

  • A lead facilitator will ideally have at least 3 years of experience and be confident in:
  • Actively engaging, approaching and incentivising people from the general community to participate in ‘awareness raising’ conversation.
  • Navigating tricky or challenging situations that appear while supervising a community stall.
  • Adhering to health and safety procedures to avoid possible health and safety issues that could occur in a public setting.
  • Applying knowledge through conversation in the environmental science field or a tertiary qualification in a related field.
  • Applying techniques such as message framing, goal setting, prompts and cues and incentives to help people shift behaviours. Rather than simply pushing information. Making engagement person-specific.
