We are looking for an experienced Product Development & Quality Manager to take ownership of product development and quality, helping ensure the business continues to deliver products that meet customer needs, commercial objectives and high quality standards.


This is a broad and influential role combining new product development, quality assurance and quality control. You'll manage products from initial concept and supplier engagement through to launch, while continually reviewing existing products to identify opportunities to improve quality, performance, cost efficiency and customer value.


Working closely with Procurement, Sales and Marketing, as well as external manufacturers and suppliers, you'll play an important role in building a strong product pipeline and bringing commercially viable products to market efficiently.


Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Building and maintaining a forward-looking product development pipeline aligned with strategic and commercial goals.
  • Leading the end-to-end development of new products, from initial concept and sourcing through to testing, approval and launch.
  • Evaluating product samples, prototypes and packaging to assess quality, compliance and commercial viability.
  • Developing strong relationships with external manufacturers, packaging suppliers and technical partners.
  • Collaborating with Procurement, Sales and Marketing on development requirements, timelines, minimum order quantities and product opportunities.
  • Managing product testing, certifications, technical documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Supporting Sales and Marketing with accurate product claims, technical information, product stories and key selling points.
  • Providing product knowledge and training to support the Sales team.
  • Monitoring new product performance and customer feedback to identify opportunities for future enhancements.
  • Managing the wider product lifecycle, from development and launch through to ongoing optimisation.
  • Developing and improving Quality Assurance and Quality Control frameworks, standards and processes.
  • Monitoring product quality and responding quickly to emerging issues.
  • Establishing Quality Control standards, pre-production requirements and compliance documentation.
  • Conducting product sampling and quality inspections.
  • Managing product complaints, investigations and corrective actions.
  • Developing SOPs and driving continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency and traceability.
  • Identifying and mitigating product quality and compliance risks.
  • Acting as a Health & Safety representative and contributing to other projects as required.


To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:


  • Proven experience in product development, quality management or a similar commercially focused role.
  • Experience managing products through the development lifecycle, from concept through to launch.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Control principles and processes.
  • The ability to assess products, samples and packaging from both a quality and commercial perspective.
  • Experience working with manufacturers, suppliers and other external partners.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and development timelines.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to quality issues, problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly around product specifications, documentation and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across Sales, Marketing and Procurement.
  • A commercial mindset and genuine interest in developing products that deliver value for both customers and the business.
