Senior React EngineerOffice Based (Christchurch) About Contented Contented is a New Zealand software company built on a simple belief: the future of work is conversational. We're building the AI-powered workspace to prove it. Every day, teams have conversations that matter, client meetings, board updates, site walkthroughs, and let the value in them disappear the moment the call ends. Contented turns those conversations into structured business documentation automatically, so nothing gets lost. Customers like BDO, Craigs Investment Partners, Duncan Cotterill, and Alliance Group already run it as part of how they work. We're not just building software, we're building a movement. Our work was featured at the UN General Assembly, we're partnering with great businesses worldwide, and our lead technical advisor is a former Microsoft VP. We're growing fast and looking for people who want to grow with us. Engineering at Contented Most AI meeting tools assume a video call, a good microphone, and a stable connection. Our customers are on farms, on construction sites, in clinics, and in client boardrooms where the laptop is closed and the wifi is a rumour. That constraint is the whole engineering problem, and it's why the work here is harder and more interesting than it looks from the outside. Things the team has built to solve it:

Offline-first capture that records, queues, and reconciles without a connection

A Windows-first desktop deployment customers' IT teams will actually approve, MSI and all

Native iPhone and Android capture, so the workspace follows the conversation

A template engine that builds a customer's document structure from their own existing documents, rather than asking them to configure anything

A passwordless authentication migration across roughly 10,000 users

Documentation pipelines that hold up to regulated review in wealth management, law, healthcare, and agriculture

About the role You'll work across the stack, React frontend through to backend systems, and own features end to end: building, testing, shipping, and watching how customers actually use them. You're part of a team of 18 where what you ship this month will be in front of customers this Key responsibilities

Build and ship production software across the full stack from React through to APIs and databases

Own features end to end: building, testing, shipping, and observing customer usage

Work on offline-first capture that records, queues, and reconciles without a connection

Contribute to Windows-first desktop deployment and native iPhone and Android capture

Develop documentation pipelines that hold up to regulated review in wealth management, law, healthcare, and agriculture

Participate in real code review and mentorship with senior engineers

Contented might be a good fit for you if you

Are a Senior React Engineer with experience across web+mobile in early stage product teams

Use AI-assisted development tools well, without having skipped the underlying craft

Love writing code, but love having impact more. You look for the pragmatic 80/20 rather than the elegant 100

Hold your opinions loosely and change your mind when the evidence says to

Would describe yourself as relentlessly resourceful

Have a strong internal sense of urgency and a bias towards doing things today, rather than tomorrow

Are energised by building something new rather than maintaining what exists

Are excited about the adventure of building a company

Benefits

Competitive salary

Small, high-trust team where your work is visible in the product, not buried in it

Real ownership over what you build, with senior engineers around you while you grow into it

Flexible hours, office-first, with flexibility to work from home when you need it

Monthly team lunches, celebrating wins together

Office in Christchurch CBD, free snacks, drinks on tap, social spaces, and one of the best cafes in Christchurch 50 metres away

Our hiring process

Initial conversation about your experience and what you want next

Technical deep-dive where you walk us through something you've built and how you think

Team interviews, a few 30-minute sessions with engineers and the product team

FAQs How far along are we? We've 3x'd our revenue with 400+ business customers globally, and a team of 18. We raised a seed round led by Altered Capital after bootstrapping to over $1M ARR ourselves. We're targeting some big goals by year end, so the next few months matter. Is this a chill gig? No. Fast-growing startups are hard, and there is always more to do than there are people to do it. You'll have a lot of responsibility from early on. It's hard work, and the ownership is real. What's the stack? React on the front end, with desktop and mobile capture clients and a backend that handles transcription, document generation, and enterprise integrations. Happy to go deeper with candidates in process. Is there a path to senior here? Yes, and it's short. We're building the engineering team now, so the people who join early shape what the roles above them look like.

Senior Ai Developer

About Harth Harth is the AI-powered workspace for architecture. Architecture teams use it to model, visualise, render and collaborate in one browser-based tool, with nothing to install. In Harth you can bring in models from Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp and IFC, place them on real satellite terrain next to existing buildings, and produce renders with leading AI models. Teams work on the same scene together in real time and leave comments in 3D. Architects can keep working the way they already do. Harth just makes them faster. The role We're looking for a senior frontend engineer who loves both 3D on the web and polished product UI. You'll own much of the experience architects spend their day in: the 3D viewport, the tools around it, and the collaborative layer that ties it together. Performance, precision and feel all matter here, and you'll have real influence on the product and the technical direction. What you'll do

Build and improve Harth's browser-based 3D environment: scene management, navigation, selection, measurement and editing tools

Make large architectural models (IFC, Revit, SketchUp and ArchiCAD imports) and terrain data load fast and render smoothly

Build real-time multiplayer features such as presence, shared state and 3D-anchored comments

Connect the viewport to Harth's AI rendering and multi-agent workflows so results feel instant

Work closely with design, backend and AI engineers, and with the architects who use Harth every day

Set the frontend standards for code quality, testing and performance, and mentor others on the team

What you'll bring

6+ years building production web apps, including several senior-level years with modern TypeScript and React (or similar)

Deep, hands-on experience with 3D on the web, such as Three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js or raw WebGL/WebGPU

A solid grasp of 3D fundamentals: transforms, cameras, materials and shaders, picking/raycasting, LOD and instancing

Experience profiling and tuning rendering and memory performance in the browser

A product mindset and good taste in UI and interaction design

Clear communication, and comfort working in a small team that moves fast

Nice to have

Experience with BIM/CAD formats (IFC, glTF, etc.) or geospatial and terrain data

Real-time collaboration tech such as CRDTs (Yjs, Automerge), WebSockets or WebRTC

Writing custom shaders in GLSL or WGSL, e.g. post-processing, custom materials or compute

A background in architecture, AEC, games or creative tools

Why Harth

You'll shape a product that is changing how buildings get designed

You'll be an early, senior hire with real ownership

Competitive salary

Nice office (central CBD) and new equipment.

How to apply Send your CV to info@harth.build (or apply through LinkedIn), along with links to 3D work you're proud of, such as demos, repos or shipped products. A short note on why Harth interests you is a bonus. Note we are an office first, with flexibility company, so you will need to be based in or willing to relocate to Christchurch for the role. Harth is an equal opportunity employer.
