Educational Requirements
- A National Certificate in Personal Training (Level 4)
- A New Zealand Register of Exercise Professionals certificate, such as an Exercise Professional certificate, or Advanced Personal Training specialist (Level 5).

A fitness trainer is a health and fitness expert whose duties involve conducting health checks, teaching, advising or helping individuals on health or fitness-related topics or on exercise activities to achieve a specific target. Their daily schedule includes: meeting with clients, teaching and helping with their workouts; creating, updating and implementing training programmes and plans and managing client memberships or bookings for classes.
