How to enter the job?
To become a Fitness Instructor in New Zealand, you will typically need to complete a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3 or higher. This qualification must include the following unit standards:
26585 - Demonstrate knowledge of health and fitness principles
26586 - Plan and implement exercise programmes
26587 - Instruct and motivate clients during exercise sessions
26588 - Provide health and fitness advice to clients
You may also need to complete a first aid course and a CPR course.
