Educational Requirements
- Completion of a certificate, diploma or degree in Air Traffic Control from a recognised institution. These programs typically take 2-4 years to complete.
- Successful completion of Airservices Australia's selection process, which includes aptitude tests and aviation medical examinations.

Air traffic controllers have a variety of responsibilities, including:
Monitoring and controlling the movement of aircraft in and out of airports
Providing instructions to pilots on taxiing, take-off, landing, and navigating in the airspace using various communication channels
Primary Duties
- Maintaining safe separation between aircraft to prevent collisions
- Issuing instructions to pilots on taxiing, take-off, landing, and navigating when taxiing in the airport apron area
